Big Roche-A-Cri Lake

Big Roche-A-Cri Lake is located in Central Wisconsin in Adams County just north of Adams/Friendship.  This 200+ acre lake has a max depth of 20 feet.  Big Roche-A-Cri Creek feeds it from the East and it turns back into Big Roche-A-Cri Creek after the dam to the west.  The water then flows several miles and deposits into Arkdale Lake.  From there, the water flows on into Castle Rock Lake.  It is part of the Wisconsin River system.  Big Roche-A-Cri Lake is known for its great pan fish, large mouth bass and northern pike fishing. You'll see the occasional jet ski and water skiers out there, but after 6 pm it has a no-wake speed limit.

Castle Rock Lake

Castle Rock Lake is a man-made lake and was built back in the late 1940’s by the Wisconsin River Power Company.  It was made by constructing a hydro-electric dam called the Castle Rock Dam.  With an impoundment of 13,000+ acres of water, it is Wisconsin’s 4th largest body of water.  Castle Rock Lake is one of Central Wisconsin’s most popular attractions and has been for many years.  Today it is used for boating, fishing and swimming with something going on nearly all the time.

Lake Petenwell

Lake Petenwell is Wisconsin’s second largest body of water (23,000+ Acres), created by Wisconsin River Power Company in the 1940s by building a Hydroelectric Dam on the Wisconsin River. Lake Petenwell is also known as the Petenwell Flowage.  It has plenty of fine waterfront real estate near one of Central Wisconsin’s most popular parks, Petenwell County Park.  Just south of the Petenwell Dam, is Castle Rock Lake, the 4th largest lake in Wiscosnin.  Theses two huge lakes, along with the Wisconsin River separate Adams County from Juneau County.  Today Lake Petenwell is one of Central Wisconsin biggest attractions along with Wisconsin Dells, which is only about 30 minutes directly south.
