Wisconsin River

Wisconsin is home to the 430 mile long Wisconsin River that is known for its amazing historical background.  Many years ago it was used throughout the state as a road for transportation from one location to another.  The river begins at the Northeast corner of the state and ends at the Mississippi River.  When fishing in the river you get the best of two worlds.  Not only do you get to bask in the glory of prime Wisconsin fish, but you get to enjoy the novelty of the Mississippi creatures.  The Wisconsin River flows through Adams County into Wisconsin Dells which is filled with fun attractions and historical landmarks.  An interesting fact is that historically the ice that formed Lake Wisconsin melted away causing overflow that cut a portion of the Wisconsin River out which in turn created the Wisconsin Dells.

Nepco Lake

NEPCO Lake WI is located just south of Wisconsin Rapids in Wood County and north of the Tri-Lakes area.   Bloody Run Creek class trout stream flows in from the east and Fourmile Creek also known as Buena Vista Creek flows in from the north east into Nepco.  It is split by State Road 13.    On the west side is Nepco Lake Dam where the water flows into Buena Vista Creek and is very short.  The water goes under County Road Z into the Wisconsin River.  The north section of the river here is considered Port Edwards Flowage and to the south section it is called the Nekoosa Flowage.  According to the Wisconsin DNR (Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources) the lake is 496 acres with water quality that is “moderately clear” with a max depth of 29 feet deep and a mean depth of 10 ft that has 95% of a sand bottom.

Nepco Lake County Park

Nepco Lake County Park is located on north side NEPCO Lake on the east side of State Road 13 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. The park entrance is off of Griffith Ave / County Road Z.  The Park has 7.3 miles of trails.  There are over 5 trails open to biking, hiking and snowshoeing.  There is a boat launch, sandy beach, playground equipment, restroom, open shelter, water well, enclosed shelter, ice fishing access, large free parking lot and a fee parking lot boat launch area.  Nepco Lake Solar Panel Bank was installed in 2019 to help offset energy costs.  The Enclosed Shelter can be rented out for Weddings, Meetings, Graduations, Birthday Parties, Memorials, Celebrations and more… It seats 150 with a total capacity of 250 people capacity.
